The Fall Armyworm Solution

About

Lees in Afrikaans

The Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) is the larval life stage of the Fall Armyworm Moth. It is regarded as a highly aggressive pest. The species is native to the Americas and have migrated to Africa where it has been wreaking havoc on crops in Central Africa, steadily migrating south. The FallArmyworm was first spotted in Southern Africa towards the end of 2016. There have been reports of outbreaks in Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West and the Free State. The species seems to have a preference for maize crops, but will literally devour any food sources. Its moniker is derived from its feeding habits. When a food source is depleted the entire army of worms will move on to the next available food source. It has a Lifecycle of 24-40 days.
